The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) was established in 2015 to consolidate 30 humanitarian and developmental initiatives and entities under one umbrella. Most of these initiatives were launched and supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai. MBRGI’s entities and initiatives are organized under five main pillars, each serving a particular humanitarian, social and development sector to meet its overarching mission to build stable and prosperous societies.

MBRGI stands as one of the largest philanthropic institutions in the region, notable for the breadth of its initiatives and expansive global programs. Housing myriad social sector initiatives, its structure blends government initiatives of the UAE alongside philanthropic endeavors. MBRGI serves as an extension of Sheikh Mohammed's public policies to strengthen livelihoods, particularly in the UAE and other Middle East countries.

The MBRGI grants in the following areas:

Humanitarian Aid and Relief Under the Humanitarian Aid and Relief pillar sits the International Humanitarian City, established in 2003 as a geographic hub for humanitarian relief organizations to stage logistics and enable efficient emergency response to nearby countries.

Healthcare and Disease Control The healthcare and disease area includes two private foundations, one focused on preventing blindness and the other on promoting medical training and innovation.

Education and Knowledge The knowledge and education pillar includes initiatives on digital learning and the Arab language and houses two large foundations--Dubai Cares, one of the largest education funders in the world, and The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), a philanthropic foundation established in 2007 with an initial endowment of $10 billion. The foundation promotes education and knowledge in the Arab world and aims to reach 30 million Arab youth and children by 2030.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship The innovation and entrepreneurship programs include the operation of the Museum of the Future, a central architectural feature in Dubai, which aims to position the UAE at the forefront of new ideas and technologies.

Empowering Communities The empowering communities pillar includes support for journalism and the media as well as initiatives for policy, leadership and cultural understanding.

Through these pillars, MBRGI aims to support and elevate communities by addressing key social, educational, and economic challenges.
